Nick translates Justin and Nemo's letters
Fair Trade Pen Pals
The Unity Team students traveled to Central High School as part of their fair trade unit. The students have been communicating with a class from the Dominican Republic through letters. As part of their social studies class, students have been learning about Latin America and agricultural trade.   In December, Unity Team students wrote letters to students from the cooperative school, and Rhonda McGown`s Spanish IV class translated them.
In December, Unity Team students wrote letters to students from the cooperative school, and Rhonda McGown's Spanish IV class translated them.
The Dominican students wrote back in Spanish. Students at Central volunteered to translate them again. The Spanish IV class invited the Unity student to come to Central for the translation. The Central students translated the Unity students' replies.

I dreamed I stood in a studio
and watched two sculptors there.
The clay they used was a young child’s mind,
and they fashioned it with care.

One was a teacher: the tools he used
were books and music and art;
One a parent with a guiding hand,
and a gentle, loving heart.
