On Friday, February 3rd, the Junior High Band
from Deer River High School performed the upbeat pep band songs “At the Hop” and “I Get Around” at half time during the varsity boys basketball game. Many junior high students had been at the game before the game began to watch the High School Pep Band perform as well, singing along with familiar songs like “Na Na.”
Deer River junior high student Alaska Marleau said, “The high school band played really well. It definitely encouraged our performance.” Another student Juliette Villeneuve added, “I thought that we played really well!”
Band Director Janice Burch was pleased with both of her pep band’s performances.
