Boys Tennis - Conference Champs
The Long Prairie - Grey Eagle Thunder boys tennis team accomplished something that has only been done twice before in the history of Long Prairie tennis. They won a conference championship. This time of the Mid - State Conference. And only once before was the championship won outright as it was this year. They did it by winning the conference flite tournament with 37 points to an improved Staples team with added stronger players who had 31 and a Detroit Lakes team that had beaten the Thunder earlier in the year who had 30 points. Wadena, Park Rapids and Perham rounded out the field. The Thunder won 1st place in 4 of the 7 flites with wins at 3rd singles by Trevor Bergmann, 4th singles by Justin Brever, 2nd doubles team Tavis Bergmann and Paul Chan, and 3rd doubles team Robert Pachan and Mitch Welters. Taking 2nd place honors were Rymora Sashida at 2nd singles and Jake Atkinson and Cory Graves at 1st doubles. The team's goal was to improve in every practice and every match they played. They have done just that and deserve to be very proud of themselves. Where ever you are when you hear this, stand up and take a bow.

Local Business Gives Back!
We are lucky to have such supportive businesses in our communities. One such business is Griff's Pizza. Each year they invite preschoolers and kindergartners to take a tour of their business. These children get the opportunity to see how pizza is made and how a pizza business is run. Of course, their favorite part is tasting the pizza! This is such a great experience for our young students. It is a field trip long remembered. Thank you, Clint and Marja Krueger!!!

Safety Day
On May 15th the Long Prairie Grey Eagle Agriculture Department presented their Annual Agricultural Safety Day program to students at the LPGE Elementary and Middle School. 40 Agriculture students gave safety demonstrations and information on 15 different topics from Hunting Safety to Large Farm equipment displays. Elementary students learned about the dangers around the home and on the farm and how to be safe around these areas. Agriculture ranks high in the list of hazardous industries. Knowing what to do in case of an accident, can safe a life. Safety is everyone's responsibility. In this photo Adam Berscheit and Matt Middendorf educate students of the importance of safety around large farm equipment.
